Crow under fire over sickening hit on opponent
Adelaide forward Shane McAdam is facing a lengthy ban after flooring Giants youngster Jacob Wehr.
McAdam’s likely suspension rubs salt into the Crows’ wound after Matthew Nicks’ side coughed up a 28-point half-time lead against the Giants.
GWS kicked 11 goals to four in the second half to run out 15. 16. (106) to 12. 18. (90) winners in new coach Adam Kingsley’s first game in charge.

The incident occurred on the wing in the third quarter when Wehr picked up a ball in dispute, only to be floored by an on-rushing McAdam, who chose to bump instead of tackling his opponent. Incredibly, Wehr was able to return for the final quarter after the hit.
The brutal hit stunned the commentary team, with boundary riding Brisbane legend Alastair Lynch offering a chilling description of the sound made when McAdam made contact with Wehr’s body.
“That was a huge hit. I’m 50 metres away and you could hear the smack,” he said on Fox Footy’s coverage.
Kangaroos great David King was left disturbed by McAdam’s decision to bump his opponent in that position.
”He’s set himself and then followed through. He’s in a world of pain,” he said.
“That’s exactly what we’re trying to stamp out of the game.”
The Giants’ win was made all the more impressive by the fact that Lachie Whitfield (concussion), Harry Perryman (hamstring), and Josh Kelly (concussion) all watching from the bench.
GWS will travel to Perth next week to take on the West Coast Eagles, while the Crows will return home to host Richmond.
