Less than one hour into Eurovision’s first round of semi-finals and it was clear that one act left a memorable impression.

But it’s not quite what fans were expecting, complete with rockets, performers stripping and a pretty strong message.

Croatia’s Act Let 3 brought a performance that was branded ‘absolute chaos’ by fans, as they delivered with their song Mama SC.

Nestled between Ireland’s act Wild Youth and Switzerland’s performance, the band begun their performance with a chant that quickly spiralled into the alphabet as they marched on stage wearing various soldier uniforms and sporting moustaches.

The anti-war message was sung by the band made of five musicians: Damir Martinović, Zoran Prodanović, Ivan Bojčić, Dražen Baljak, and Matej Zec.

As their three-minute performance continued, it turned wilder and wilder, repeating the words: ‘Mother bought a tractor.’

By the end, the soldiers coats had been whipped off as the singers stripped down to their underclothes, holding giant missiles on the stage as they raged about war.

Fans loved every second, taking to social media to share their thoughts on the chaos.

‘Croatia: Classic Eurovision – completely bonkers, no idea whats going on, native language, absolute chaos. Love it. 8/10,’ one fan wrote.

Someone else penned: ‘I think this Eurovision might have gone peak Eurovision already in the first semi finale with this performance from Croatia.’

‘Croatia is everything Eurovision is all about,’ someone else said.

‘Croatia understood the assignment,’ another penned.

The second round of semi-finals takes place on Thursday before the grand final, seeing the remaining non-qualified countries perform, with the top 10 from the second heat advancing to the grand final.

The remaining countries are eliminated from the contest and do not perform again on the Saturday night (although they can still vote in the grand final).

The Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals are on May 9 and 11 on BBC One at 8pm. The grand final is on Saturday May 13 on BBC One at 8pm.
