‘Crazy’ moment tourists race to get sunbeds in Benidorm as staff open the pool
TOURISTS have been caught racing one another to make sure they get the best beds at a resort in Benidorm.
Every summer, holidaymakers are seen fighting it out for sun loungers first thing in the morning before they’re all reserved.
Similar scenes have already been captured on film throughout this summer, including in Benidorm, where scores of people were seen charging towards the beds as the pool was opened.
Tiktoker Nichola Woodward (@nicholawoodward) was on hand to capture footage of the race on her phone.
In a video she shared online, she explained that there were people up racing for the beds every morning.
She also claimed that people were making use of their kids to get better spots, adding: “Send the kids, they can run faster.”
However, she also pointed out that they didn’t need to be there, with beds still available throughout the day.
She wrote: “Sunbed wars, crazy rope drop at 9am!
“But we still got good sunbeds even as late as 11am! What would you do?”
Her video had been seen hundreds of times, with one person describing them as “crazy” before suggesting that they probably would have ended up having to join in to get the best spots.
They wrote: “If you can’t beat them join them. That’s crazy they were running.”
Other people were seen using their kids in a similar way to make sure they got to the beds first.
In footage captured at a hotel in Malaga, guests were seen waiting for staff to open the pool, before running to get to their favourite loungers.
Some parents had brought their kids down to get involved in the race for beds, getting them to run ahead of the crowds.
there are etiquette rules for them to follow.
Renowned etiquette expert, William Hanson, believes there is a 30-minute grace period on poolside reservations.
William told Sun Online Travel: “In the morning, at the start of the day, if you’re by the pool after breakfast, then it’s fine at 8.30 to put your towel on the bed to reserve your spot.
“But later on in the day after you’ve used the lounger, and go off for a massage, for example, which is going to be an hour, then you can’t use a towel to reserve the sun lounger.”
Meanwhile, hotel staff have been filmed getting revenge on guests, by removing the towels from their sunbeds.
And another guest claimed fights had broken out between people staying at the all-inclusive resort he was at.
