Covid-19 update: 2,032 new cases reported in SA



As of Wednesday 6 April, the cumulative number of detected Covid-19 cases in South Africa is 3.727,208  with 2,032 new cases identified, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) confirmed.

This represents a 5.4% positivity rate.

Three Covid-19 related deaths was reported, bringing the total number of deaths to 100,070.

There were 40 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.

The total number of recoveries stands at 3.614,509 with a recovery rate of 97%. South Africa currently has 12,629active cases.

23.971,040 tests in total have been conducted to date in both public and private sectors.

The total number of vaccines administered in the country so far stands at 33.931, 060 as of 5 April.

Provincial breakdown

The majority of the new Covid-19 cases came from Gauteng (808), followed by Western Cape (448) and KwaZulu-Natal (484), Mpumalanga (44), North West (45) and Eastern Cape (111).

Free State recorded 41 cases followed by Northern Cape (22) and Limpopo (29), which had the lowest cases.
