Courteney Cox’s 4 Hollywood exes and dating her step-cousin

Friends fans would all know Courteney Cox as the loveable, quirky, and sometimes bossy, Monica Geller from their favourite American sitcom.

Before Monica’s on-screen romance with her sarcastic boyfriend, and later husband, Chandler Bing, fans tuned in season after season to follow her up-and-down dating life and seemingly endless quest for love.

Courteney’s character went through countless make ups and break ups that included a relationship with a mature Richard Burke, portrayed by Hollywood hunk Tom Selleck, and an anti-climactic affair with millionaire-cum-failed UFC fighter Pete Becker.

But Courteney’s real-life dating life was just as interesting. Her list of romances include a six-year relationship with Michael Keaton, who played Bruce Wayne in the 1989 film Batman and its 1992 sequel Batman Returns.

Between 1984 and 1986, long before her rise to stardom, Courteney also dated music agent Ian Copeland, who strangely enough also happened to be her step cousin.

Her later relationships included hairdresser Paul Brown and Counting Crows lead singer Adam Duritz, as well as Kevin Costner, who many will remember as the lead actor in Waterworld and The Bodyguard.

In 1996, Courteney met fellow actor David Arquette when they were both cast in the Hollywood blockbuster Scream.

Courteney and David married three years later in San Francisco and remained together for over a decade before announcing their separation in October 2010.

Their divorce was finally settled in 2013, around about which time Courteney briefly dated her Cougar Town co-star Brian Van Holt.

A year after that romance ended, Courteney met her rockstar boyfriend Johnny McDaid.

Johnny, who is from Northern Ireland, proposed just six months later and the couple announced their engagement.

The engagement, however, was not to last, as the couple called it off in 2015.

Despite cancelling the wedding plans, Courteney and Johnny found themselves in each other’s arms again a year later, and they’ve remained together ever since.

Johnny now splits his time travelling between the UK and the US, spending as much time as he can with Courteney when he’s there.

Due to the pandemic, the couple spent much of 2020 doing long distance.

“Well, we love each other,” Courteney told Us in May 2016. “We’re happy!”

Johnny added: “I know that I’ve never loved like I love this woman.”

Courteney will be on the next Graham Norton Show on BBC this Friday (January 4) at 10:35pm
