What’s a good dark marks remover? Are you doomed to a life of flat hair? Are there any real products for fine lines and wrinkles?
We tried these three new beauty products and think these could help with everyday beauty problems.
Oily, flat hair
According to Medical News Today, oily skin is caused by the sebaceous glands producing too much sebum.
The article describes sebum as the waxy, oily substance that protects and hydrates the skin but says too much sebum can lead to oily skin, clogged pores and acne.

Redken’s Bodifying Complex, with filloxane, is a volumising agent and helps to provide instant volume to fine, flat, or processed hair.
I found the product to be light and it left my hair cleansed without feeling greasy but still offered shine.
The conditioner was light and I applied mainly to the ends due to my fine, flat hair. It did help to plump up my hair, especially after blowdrying.

For fine fines and wrinkles
As I turn 38 this year, fine lines and wrinkles are beginning to show. According to an article published by the Mayo Clinic, wrinkles are caused by a combination of factors — some you can control, others you can’t. These include age, smoking, frowning and laughing a lot and sun damage.
I tried the Environ Focus Care Moisture+ Super Moisturiser and it really is worth spending the R400. It is super moisturising like the name suggests and includes two key ingredients, pentavitin – which helps produce hyaluronic acid and helps create an epidermal moisture – and revidrate, which helps with hydrating factors in the skin by stimulating genes and enzyme and supports the skin’s water and lipid balance
I think this product is a long-term one and you will begin to notice some differences over time.

Dark marks remover
According to an article by SkinKraft, there are five major causes of dark marks and blemishes. These include rash, acne, ageing and melasma, which is caused by excess melanin in certain areas of the skin.
Some of the problems I have faced with my skin are dark marks and acne. I have been paying close attention on social media and thanks to TikTok and Instagram Reels, there has been a lot of promotion around The Ordinary products, especially their dark marks remover.
One of the things that really stick out for me is that the Google reviews are quite high. Especially for The Ordinary Peeling Solution, which contains alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), which have anti-inflammatory properties and promote blood flow. It also contains beta hydroxy acids (BHA), which according to Medical News Today, help with fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage.
According to the website, it also contains a: Tasmanian pepperberry derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use. This derivative is of plant origin and varies in colour seasonally and this colour variation may be apparent in the formula from time to time. This formula is further supported with a crosspolymer form of hyaluronic acid for comfort, vitamin B5 to assist healing and black carrot as an antioxidant.
My experience of the range has been very positive and in particular, the peels are really worth checking out. You can see visible differences in the skin almost immediately.
Do not be alarmed when you try this product for the first time, as it will look like you’ve had a vampire facial ala Kim Kardashian.
Follow the directions on the bottle carefully and once-a-week usage is enough as there is a high concentration of free acids in the formula. This means that your skin might react if you overuse the product.
The product works by removing dead skins cells and the application includes leaving it on for 10 minutes then washing it off with warm water.
My experience was (not to sound like a commercial) an immediately radiant looking skin.
