Corrie fans stunned as ‘Catherine Tate’ makes a surprise appearance

Coronation Street fans were stunned as they thought they spotted comedian and actress Catherine Tate in a guest role on the ITV soap. As viewers watched scenes involving Summer Spellman and Aadi Alahan taking their exams they were stunned to see a look-alike of the Doctor Who star.

They commented an angry invigilator who hauled Aadi from the exam room was a dead ringer for Catherine. @Samanth22356123 tweeted: “That invigilator – Catherine Tate!!”

@mikepriestley13 said: “The examiner lady looks like Catherine Tate.” FLady1980 commented: “#corrie that teacher looks like catherine tate lol.” And @PhilipCSwales said: “Calm down, Catherine Tate.”

Viewers were fuming over Wednesday night’s episode (June 8) as smitten Aadi took the blame for Summer after the invigilator found revision cards he had made for her and accused him of cheating. Aadi made the homemade revision cards for diabetic Summer after she has been suffering exam stress.

In the exam room, the Oxford University hopeful unzipped her blood sugar testing kit to reveal the cards hidden inside. When an invigilator headed over to see what she was doing Summer panicked and made out she needed to test her sugar levels.

The invigilator bundled Aadi out of the room

Outside she opened her bag and realised with horror that the cards in Aadi’s handwriting were missing. The second invigilator found the notes on the floor and recognising the handwriting as Aadi’s, she bundled him out of the room.

Later Aadi urged her to let him cover for her. “You’ve got chance. It will all blow over. For me it’s just an AS level,” he said. “You’ve got a chance to do something no-one else round here does.”

And he added: “You had a panic. You’ve been unlucky getting ill. Don’t chuck it away now. Do it for us. Do it for all of us.” And Summer allowing him to take the blame upset many Corrie fans.

@RyanGSoapKing11 tweeted: “Save Aadi at all costs.” @PJDavies1962 fumed: “If Aadi goes down for this I’m going to start a crowd funding page for the lad!” And @moore95_pamela said: “Did the teacher not realise that the cards Aadi wrote were on the floor when he left the room or when the other teacher replaced him. Summer was the only pupil mobile and looking shifty. Cheats never prosper. But it’ll be poor Aadi who’ll fall on his sword for her.”
