Super Soap Week begins tonight and Weatherfield will be full of drama as the actions of deadly serial killer Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) will finally come to light.

This week, Stephen is planning his escape from the cobbles and the trail of dead bodies he has left behind.

Spoilers for this week’s episodes confirm Stephen’s next victim is Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine), who will discover Teddy Tompkins’ body after the serial killer dumped him in the river earlier this year.

Stephen will leave Tim for dead ahead of his exit on Friday.

However, one Corrie star who was supposed to appear in this week’s dramatic scenes has had to be written out due to Coronavirus.

Speaking at the Pride of Britain Awards last week, soap star Lisa George, who plays Beth Tinkler, revealed to the Mirror that Covid forced her to be cut from the upcoming episodes.

“I got Covid, so I got cut from the scenes,” she confirmed.

Lisa, 52, added: “I was gutted as I really liked the scenes as well, it was super soap week and there was a sudden rush of Covid and we were dropping like flies, and unfortunately I got it as well.”

Having been absent from filming, Lisa admitted that she has no clue what to expect from the re-writes so now she’ll be as surprised as viewers when the scenes air this week.

While many crew members were also struck down by Covid, Lisa didn’t confirm which of her co-stars were also affected by the illness and who, if any, will also be missing from the upcoming episodes.

This week marks the third month of Lisa’s absence from Corrie.

Prior to contracting Coronavirus in September, she took some time off the soap to travel in August. At the same time, she was waiting for a new contract, which she now has.

She had previously sparked exit rumours because she admitted to Women’s Weekly that Call the Midwife would be a dream role.

Lisa admitted the rumours took her by surprise.

She said: “I was asked about my contract and I said I was waiting, and so they asked what I’d like to do if I didn’t get one and I said Call The Midwife. That’s all I said. It was a passing comment, then the next thing, everyone is ringing me like, ‘you’re leaving, you’re leaving.’”
