The 27-year-old shared an update about the sudden loss of his pet dog, Frank.

Jack told his 36,300 followers that his puppy had suddenly passed away on his Instagram story.

He shared several photos with the caption: “Utterly devastated to say we lost my best boy Frank today very unexpectedly to an aggressive cancer. He was the best mate a guy could ask for.”

Another photo showed the Manchester-born star posing with a pug and a dachshund.

The actor called them an “iconic trio” with a broken heart emoji to express his sadness.

Jack played the character Jacob Hay in the hit series until January of this year.

The character left the cobbles after his father Damon played by Ciaran Griffiths left suddenly.

Speaking to Manchester Evening News he revealed his decision to leave: “It was a difficult decision because I love the character so much.

He added: “But I was coming up to that two-year mark on the show and the conversations upstairs were very much about looking at the long haul of what Jacob was going to do and who he was going to be on the Street with.

Jack added that because he was “still young” there was more that the young actor wanted to do and that “in a way, [he’s] come and done what [he] intended to do”.

He commemorated his exit on Instagram with a smiley photo on set.

He commented: “That’s all folks. Jacob Hay over and out, I’m gonna miss you brother! @coronationstreet x.”

Fans quickly replied to the emotional post: “Can’t wait to see what you do next” and “You’ll be missed! Jacob was a great character and you played him brilliantly.”

However, fans can expect to see the actor in a brand new role with ITV.

Passenger is a dark comic thriller focusing on a young woman’s abduction.

Jack plays the character of Jakub Makowski in the six-part series.
