Cookies going over the moon and are delicious at school! Ifechi Nweze St Bede’s
The St Vincent de Paul club based in St Bede’s School wanted to do a wonderful deed for local foodbanks in Redhill and Caterham on the 9th of November 2022.
The SVP club decided to do a fundraiser where members baked and sold cookies for 50p and made hot chocolate for £1 to Year 7 students during their break and lunches. Also, all years could come in their own clothes, with Year 7 wearing a red colour item and Years 8-13 could wear a blue piece of clothing. All of these efforts was not only to support for the charity it was also to come together to show that all students at St Bede’s care for people who are going through such difficult times.
Orla Ryan,a member of the SVP said that,”I really enjoyed making the cookies and a big part of it was knowing that it wasn’t just for me, it was to help others in need at this difficult time and a reminder that everyone deserves to eat.”
During break time, the cookies were sold at an alaming rate and by the end of it, no cookies remained to be sold and at lunch time, the hot chocolates sold out in quick succsession.
The SVP managed to raise just over £300 from both the cookies and the hot chocolates put together and the money was split up to go to both foodbanks to elp support them during the winter period so that the foodbanks could be able to buy more food for people who are struggling at this time.
