The former UFC champion took to the court for the pre-planned half-time show at Game 4 of the NBA finals between Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets in Miami.
Heat mascot ‘Burnie’ approached McGregor, who was promoting a new sponsor for the team, wearing a pair of oversized boxing gloves, squaring up to the Dubliner.
The mascot was then floored by one of McGregor’s trademark left hooks with the 34-year-old following it up with a second shot while Burnie was prone on the ground.
The man inside the costume was dragged off the court and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Addressing the incident, McGregor told TMZ ‘all is well’ between himself and Burnie having spoken to him after the show.
‘The mascot is good. It was a skit, and all is well,’ McGregor said.
‘I spent a lot of time with him afterward, we talked it out, everything is great. It was all part of the show!’
McGregor, who has not fought since suffering a broken leg in his 2021 trilogy defeat to Dustin Poirier, is currently leading a team in the Ultimate Fighter 31.
Michael Chandler leads the opposing side with the two expected to meet in the Octagon later this year.
