Concept Art for Valve’s Cancelled Space Pirate Game ‘Stars of Blood’ Shows New Environments and Characters

Valve’s last game may have been another instalment in the Half-Life franchise, but newly uncovered concept art for one of its now cancelled games shows just how vastly different a game we could’ve seen from the company prior to Alyx’s adventures.

The concept art is from a game called Stars of Blood, which Valve founder Gabe Newell had described as a “space pirates game” a few years prior. The concept art, which can be found here, were uncovered by Twitter user @game_obscure.

A tech demonstration from 2012, designed by veteran Valve developer Gray Horsfield, has also been brought into limelight which is believed to be showcasing an environment for the cancelled game.

Not much else is known about Stars of Blood, but the newly uncovered concept art shows a lot of the game’s proposed environments, ships and various humanoid creatures roaming the galaxy.

Valve is currently working on preparing the launch of its upcoming Steam Deck, and while there are no new games being worked on (officially), the company is going back and updating its previously released games with new features.
