Coming soon to a Windows PC near you: Apple Music, Apple TV app, and iCloud Photos – Times of India
Apple has quite often been criticised for keeping a tight leash on its apps and services. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg didn’t miss a beat when he recently criticised Apple for creating a “closed” ecosystem that ends up hurting others and benefitting only Apple. At least Microsoft can’t blame Apple now for creating a closed ecosystem as some of Apple’s popular apps are coming to Windows 11.
At the Microsoft Surface event, Panos Panay, chief product officer, Microsoft revealed that the company is making it easier than ever for users to access their iPhone photos and videos on Windows devices. Here we tell you all about it:
Which Apple services is Microsoft integrating?
First up is iCloud Photos which through a new integration with iCloud and the Photos app in Windows 11, you will be able to access all photos and videos from your iPhone right in the Photos app. The Apple TV app is already on Xbox consoles, and starting today, Apple Music will be available on Xbox as well. Microsoft further revealed that Apple Music and the Apple TV app will launch on Windows next year.
How to use Apple services on Windows 11?
For iCloud Photos, Microsoft says that it is a seamless process. Simply install the iCloud for Windows app from the Microsoft Store and choose to sync your iCloud Photos. For Apple Music and Apple TV — when available — users will need to download them from the Microsoft Store to use it.
When is Microsoft rolling out Apple services on Windows?
iCloud Photos is already Available to Windows Insiders whereas it will become available to all customers on Windows 11 in November. Apple TV and Apple Music will be made available next year — no exact month or date has been revealed by Microsoft.
Is it a big deal?
