Coldplay fan with wrong ticket left astounded as band personally replies
Finley Galdins, 17, thought he’d struck gold when he stumbled across a ticket to a Coldplay gig for £25.
Except, rather than land a great deal to see the band live in Kendal, the teen had actually bought a livestream cinema ticket which was broadcasting their set in Argentina.
But after taking to Twitter to express his exasperation at wasting £25 and missing out on a live ticket, Finley got the surprise of his life.
Finley tweeted: ‘I’ve just s*****d 25 quid on a Coldplay ticket thinking it was a concert, turns out it’s a cinema screen in Kendal of a concert they’re doing in Argentina.
‘Are you taking the p***, it said live at the river plate I just presume that was the place in Kendal NOT ONCE did it say cinema. What a s***e start to the day.’
He continued: ‘I’m so fuming ffs 25 quid for a cinema screen in Kendal I ain’t going to that no way.’
But Finley’s week was about to get a whole lot better, as who responded to his Tweet but Coldplay themselves – and the band offered some pretty decent compensation for his losses.
The offer was so good that Finley’s nan even warned him it could be a scam and told him not to trust the direct message from the Yellow hitmakers.
But it was really that good – and true – as the band invited Finley to join them on tour for an Amsterdam date to make up for his ticketing error.
Oh, and – no biggy – but all his expenses will be covered.
Finley told the Mirror: ‘I couldn’t believe it, I was pacing around the living room buzzing, and my nan was going, “Don’t believe it, they’re having you on, it’s one of them scams,” and I had to double check but no, it really is Coldplay.’
The super-fan explained how he’d been chasing Coldplay tickets for months and it just didn’t seem real to him.
Although he’s had many friends messaging and asking to go with him, he’s not decided who his lucky plus one will be.
This comes as the band make their way around the globe for their Music of the Spheres World Tour.
They will be touching down in Amsterdam for four nights on July 15, 16, 18, and 19, before heading to the USA for their next major leg, starting in September.
