Cody Rhodes vows to ‘address WWE future’ after WrestleMania heartbreak
Cody Rhodes has reflected on a difficult week and promised to address his WWE future on this week’s episode of Raw.
The American Nightmare suffered a heartbreaking loss to Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 39 despite fans all expecting him to dethrone the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, and the next night on Raw he got demolished by Brock Lesnar.
Alongside a series of snaps on Instagram, Cody wrote: ‘A long week. I know last Sunday was not the result I’d hoped for, and I know many fans were disappointed as well.
‘I make no excuses. I lost. I’d be remiss if I didn’t tell you how much I enjoyed the ride…until Sunday night, and furthermore Monday night.
‘I would like to thank @thebrandirhodes, @wwe , the city of Los Angeles, Matt Rolf, @bradkolowichjr , @sgovintage , @jtcervero , HHH, The McMahon Family, Bruce, Conrad, Kevin Dunn, Ryan W Ryan C Mustache Chad Brian James Ed K, John Cone, John Cena, and @makeawishamerica for allowing me the honor to induct 15 wishes into the Circle Of Champions, and many more names I may be forgetting… in addition Nick Khan for taking care of my family through the festivities.
‘Lastly, the almost 200k fans who attended the weekend overall…unwavering and motivating. I want to be your champion. This Monday I hope to speak about my future with WWE and what may be next for me.’
Although it seems more likely Cody will be focusing on his new rivalry with Brock for the time being, the cryptic nature of his post has some people wildly speculating that he could leave just 12 months after making his sensational return.
‘Look man wwe needs you. There ain’t many guys entertaining both in and out the ring as well as on the mic,’ wrote one fan.
‘Don’t give up Cody please,’ commented another, while a third follower added: ‘There will be another chance down the road. The story isn’t over, just a chapter is.’
A fourth person said: ‘Don’t leave please, your carrying WWE rn (sic)’
And another wrote: ‘Speak about your future with wwe?! What may be next for you?! This Brock feud is next for you, then back to Roman by summerslam better be the future.’
WWE Raw airs Monday nights at 1am on BT Sport.
