CNN hires CNBC star Kayla Tausche as its new White House correspondent
CNN bolstered its roster of on-air personalities by hiring CNBC’s Kayla Tausche as its new senior White House correspondent, the network announced on Monday.
Tausche, 37, joined CNN on Monday after spending more than a decade at CNBC, where she covered the Biden administration as a White House correspondent in addition to fill-in duties as anchor for the cable channel’s programs.
The Atlanta native “brings a background rich in economic, technology, and foreign policy that will bolster CNN’s coverage of these vital areas as President Biden seeks to win reelection in 2024,” CNN said in a statement.
Tausche touted her new gig on her social media page on Monday.
“Time to update the Twitter bio: Thrilled to join the incredible White House team at @CNN,” she tweeted on Monday.
Tausche joins a crop of White House correspondents headed by its most senior member, Phil Mattingly.

Mattingly, who covers the White House alongside correspondent MJ Lee, is thought to be a candidate to co-host CNN’s morning show anchored by Poppy Harlow.
Harlow has been sharing anchoring duties of “CNN This Morning” with a rotating cast of characters since Kaitlan Collins, who was White House correspondent during the Trump presidency, was moved to a primetime slot and Don Lemon was fired.

CNN has been in flux in recent weeks, particularly in the wake of CEO Chris Licht’s ouster.
Licht, who was on the job for a little more than a year, was let go after a disastrous magazine profile of him in The Atlantic revealed him to be paranoid and aloof.
He was replaced by a triumvirate of executives who will assume Licht’s duties collectively while the head of CNN’s corporate parent, Warner Bros. Discover CEO David Zaslav, searches for a permanent replacement.
Licht’s predecessor, Jeff Zucker, was seen attending a Hamptons party over the weekend while holding hands with Alisyn Camerota, who anchors “CNN Tonight.”
Zucker, 58, left CNN after it was learned he had been carrying on a years-long consensual relationship with his top marketing officer, Allison Gollust.
