Close to 20,000 students to take Class XII Goa Board exam from today | Goa News – Times of India
PANAJI: Starting Wednesday, 19,807 students will answer their second term exam of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. Of the students registered for the test, 9,932 are boys and 9,875 are girls, Goa Board chairman Bhagirath Shetye said.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Board had split the Class X and Class XII syllabi into two equal parts and both, the first and second term-end exams, were conducted by the Board itself. The final result was arrived at by combining marks scored during both terms. The same pattern of assessment has been applied for the current academic year 2022-23.
The first term exam for this year was held in November 2022. As many as 6,079 commerce students, 5,381 science students and 5,066 arts students have registered to appear for the second term exam. Another 3,281 vocational stream students will also answer the test.
As per a decision already taken by the Goa Board, this is the last year that the special evaluation pattern will be applicable. From the academic year 2023-24, there will be only one year-end Board exam for students of Classes X and XII, as was the norm prior to the pandemic.
“This second term exam will be the last one where students answer the exam for only half the syllabus. As per a decision taken recently by the Board, the supplementary exam being held in June will also be for the entire year’s syllabus. From next year, the year-end Board exam will also be for the entire year’s syllabus, as per the earlier decision of the Board,” Shetye said.
