The classic Jaguar E type car which Del Boy and Rodney crashed in Only Fools and Horses sold yesterday for £91.000.

Boycie – played by the late John Challis – had bought the sports car for his mistress and had to keep it secret from wife Marlene.

In the show the Trotters took it out to the West End and it was rear ended by a wreck with faulty brakes that Del had sold earlier.

The auctioneer said it was ‘an absolutely amazing’ car but joked:”Who the hell would buy a car off Boycie?”

But in reality the classic car was not damaged and had been maintained by just two owners since it was first registered in 1973.

The car, in Old English white and with blue leather, has a top speed of 135mph and has 80,000 miles on the clock.

And John Challis autographed it inside the boot.

The car was sold at Hampson classic sale at Holywell, North Wales, yesterday for a hammer price of £91,000.
