Krakow, Prague and Budapest are among some of the cheapest destinations holidaymakers can bag bargain trips to – we’ve found deals from £22 for Krakow, £33 for Budapest and £43 for Prague.

Travellers can enjoy two nights at a hotel in Krakow for £22pp, including direct flights from London.

Visitors can enjoy the city’s Christmas markets, as well as explore further afield to go shopping, eat out or take advantage of the cheap alcohol.

Flights from London and two nights in a hotel in Budapest costs £33.50pp.

And two nights at a hotel in Prague including flights from London will set travellers back by £43pp.

Tourists will have a choice of which of Prague’s Christmas markets they wish to go to with stalls set up in both the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square.

For anyone looking to spend slightly more on their hotel and travel, trips to Tallinn and Brussels are marginally more expensive.

Two nights in a hotel in Estonia’s capital including flights direct from London costs £57.50pp.

And flights and a two night stay in a hotel in the heart Brussels costs £149.50pp. Prices were correct at the time of publication.

Prices for city breaks are rock bottom at the moment because Brits are increasingly looking at mid and long haul destinations instead of cities for their winter holidays compared with before the pandemic.

According to Travel Supermarket, the fall in demand means the average price of a three-night overseas city break before the end of the year is down across the board.

For example, the package holiday price from the UK to Krakow is down by nearly a quarter and to Budapest by a fifth.

Travel Supermarket spokesperson Emma Coulthurst said: “Cities like Krakow, Prague and Budapest rely on British tourism; the UK is one of their biggest source markets.

“If Brits are not travelling, the airlines and hotels are having to reduce already good-value prices to try and stimulate people to book.

“There are also really good package prices to the likes of pre-pandemic popular destinations such as Barcelona and Berlin and even Rome.”
