Cillian Murphy’s Oppenheimer cast drinks crashed by surprise guest

Cillian Murphy was snapped against the New York skyline enjoying a drink with his Oppenheimer co-stars over the weekend.

Marvel star Robert Downey Jr posted the snap on his Instagram, which also included Emily Blunt and Matt Damon.

The Irish Peaky Blinders leading man, 47, looked much happier than he does portraying J Robert Oppenheimer in the film’s trailers.

Fans were rather surprised by his smiley demeanor as well as the appearance of Blunt’s famous husband John Krasinski.

The Office star isn’t listed amongst Oppenheimer’s cast but nevertheless joined his wife and the cast to build even more hype for the film’s release.

Downey even cheekily hinted Krasinski could pop up in the film somewhere after he previously cameoed in the MCU as Mr Fantastic.

“Linking up with my Oppenheimer cast mates…” he wrote in the caption.

“Wait, is that a Krasinski photo bomb or might there be a surprise cameo???”

The post immediately drew excitement from Downey’s 55.8 million followers, and many couldn’t help commenting on Murphy’s ear-to-ear grin.

@agentsof_marvel replied: “Cillian is just too happy. Of course he is, he’s with RDJ, that man radiates good energy.”

@analiaogs agreed, writing: “Cillian is smiling like that because he’s next to RDJ, I’d be smiling too.”

@amberdoigthorne joked: “I’ve never seen Cillian so happy. [laughing emoji]”

And @zhi_amaka said: “This is the first time I’ve seen Cillian laugh – or even looking happy. Something’s not right.”

Murphy previously teamed up with Krasinski in A Quiet Place Part II, which The Office star directed and briefly starred in.

He has also appeared in a number of Nolan’s work, including Dunkirk, Inception and all three films in The Dark Knight trilogy.

In Oppenheimer, he portrays the director of the Los Alamos Laboratory who became known as the ‘father of the atomic bomb’ during the Second World War.

Oppenheimer releases in cinemas on Friday, July 21.
