Chris Hemsworth sends message of strength to friend with terminal cancer
Chris Hemsworth has used his platform to send some love to a friend with terminal cancer.
The Australian actor, 39, gave a shout out to Natalie Fornasier, who was first diagnosed with cancer eight years ago, before learning in July that her condition was terminal.
Natalie, 28, worked with Chris while filming his new National Geographic series, Limitless.
Now, praising her courage, the Thor star has shared a touching message of strength.
‘My friend, @nataliefornasier who many of you know from Episode 6 “Acceptance” of Limitless, is unfortunately not doing well,’ he began on his Instagram Story.
Chris continued: ‘I, like so many of you, continue to be moved by her story and even more impressed with her positivity.
‘Natalie is a person who displays perpetual grace in the face of adversity; she is kind, selfless, and brave in how she continues to tell her impactful story openly.’
He concluded: ‘With her permission, I am sharing her most recent posts in the hope that her strength, perseverance, and dignity inspires you today – and every day.’
The movie star went on to share pictures from Natalie’s own page, which boasts over 26k followers.
In a recent post discussing her cancer this month, she described how ‘brutal’ the past four months have been for her, after she learned she has ‘months left to live.’
Of the word ‘terminal’, she wrote: ‘It’s a word I had been skating around for years, a word that terrified me because I always knew it could be a possibility.
‘But it’s also a frame of mind I never anticipated I would have to enter. As I descended into what it meant to be terminal – I entered the deepest hole of depression I’ve ever experienced. Every day for the past four months I’ve cried and screamed.’
Natalie went on to explain how often she has been crying, having ‘screamed for the children I would never have’ and her fears of not being able to grow old and have ‘the life I was supposed to live.’
‘It’s not easy to admit that I’m dying. At 28 years old… everything about it feels wrong. The conversations I’ve had to have, the plans I’ve had to make, the places my thoughts have gone and are still going – none of it is natural. It’s painful,’ she continued.
Natalie ended her post by sharing her gratitude for the ‘all consuming’ love she’s experienced and the ‘energy’ that ‘will never die’, even after she is gone.
‘Alexander [Natalie’s partner] and I have grieved together, and he has shared so many ways of how he will keep me in his life, which brings me peace as I face the unknown. But know this, no matter where I am, I’ll still be here – in some way.’
