Chick-fil-A testing new plant-based sandwich in Denver

Fast-food chain Chick-fil-A is adding its first plant-based sandwich to the menu and Denverites will be among the first to get a taste.

Starting Feb. 13, the restaurant will test a cauliflower sandwich in three markets across the U.S., including the Mile High City, according to an announcement Thursday. Diners in Charleston, S.C. and North Carolina’s Greensboro-Triad region will also get to try the new product.

In a statement, Chick-fil-A said the cauliflower sando was inspired by its signature chicken sandwich and touted it as uncannily similar in appearance. The veggie offering will be made and served the same way, too: marinated, breaded and seasoned, pressure-cooked, and served on a toasted bun with two dill pickle chips.

Leslie Neslage, the company’s director of menu and packaging, said the new addition is in direct response to customer feedback. In-house chefs have been working on the recipes for nearly four years and testing various plant-based options, the company said.
