Cheryl addresses social media absence after death of Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding

Former Girls Aloud star Cheryl took to social media this afternoon to thank fans for their support at a gig which took place over a month ago, following a break from social media. The singer performed at Mighty Hoopla 2021 on September 4, the day before her former bandmate Sarah Harding died.

The songstress was battling breast cancer and died on September 5, at the age of 39.

Following her death, Cheryl said she was at a “loss for words” and trying to navigate “unfamiliar waves of disbelief”.

After a short break, the 38-year-old returned to the picture-sharing site earlier today to share a video from the pop festival.

“I love you all. Thank you for an amazing night @mightyhoopla,” she captioned the footage, which she shared with her 3.5 million followers.

The day after Sarah died, Cheryl took to Instagram to pay tribute to the star, while still processing her death.

The Girls Aloud star had been battling breast cancer since early 2020, sharing the news of her diagnosis in August later that year.

“Although we knew this day would arrive I am somehow still feeling at a loss for words that our stunning, unique, crazy, quirky, kind and soft hearted girl has departed.

“As I try to navigate my way through these painfully strange and horribly unfamiliar waves of disbelief & finality I am experiencing, I wanted to extend my condolences to all of our GA fans,” Cheryl wrote online.
