Romelu Lukaku has explained what Didier Drogba has said following his blockbuster £97.5million return to Chelsea. Drogba mentored Lukaku during the latter’s first spell with the Blues.
Chelsea ended their lengthy pursuit of a new striker when they confirmed the arrival of Lukaku from Inter Milan last week.
Thomas Tuchel made a new centre-forward a top priority after seeing his side frequently misfire last term, despite their stunning Champions League success.
Defensive midfielder Jorginho was the club’s highest Premier League scorer. All seven of his goals were penalties.
Lukaku has returned to Chelsea 10 years after he first signed, and with a renewed reputation as an elite goalscorer following his mixed spell with Manchester United.
Chelsea legend Drogba has apparently been delighted with Lukaku’s form since leaving United in 2018.
“He was really happy about the improvements I made in the last couple of seasons,”the 28-year-old said.
“But there is always work to be done, it’s all about improvement week in, week out.
“Now I get the chance to join a team that’s very hungry and very ambitious. I can’t wait to add something.
“I did a full pre-season so now I’m just trying to get to know my teammates better.”
