Chelsea ace Ross Barkley ‘faces driving ban’ and has ‘hired’ chauffeur for £150k Mercedes
Chelsea ace Ross Barkley is apparently facing a driving ban after being caught on his mobile phone behind the wheel. The midfielder joined the Blues in 2018 after the club shelled out £15million to prise him away from Everton.
According to The Sun, Barkley was seen using his phone last July while driving his £150,000 Mercedes-AMG in Wandsworth in south west London.
The player, who earns £84,000 a week, has reportedly entered a guilty plea to the charge of using a handheld mobile phone while driving a vehicle.
And he is now set to appear at Bromley magistrates’ court in south east London in March after racking-up enough points to face a ban.
The newspaper reports that the player has previous road convictions and is understood to have hired a chauffeur for the next 12 months.
“He’s worried a ban is coming,” a source told The Sun. “A driver has been brought in to help.

But he has fallen well down the pecking order at Chelsea in recent years and doesn’t look likely to appear for England again after playing just 151 minutes of Premier League football this season
The 28-year-old was part of the Chelsea squad which travelled to Abu Dhabi for the Club World Cup earlier this month, but remained on the bench for his side’s two encounters as they won the competition.
Burnley and Everton were reportedly interested in taking him on loan last month, but the star ended up staying in west London.
And Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has insisted that Barkley could still force his way into the Blues team during the second half of the campaign.
