As the cost-of-living crisis continues to ravage the country, it is unsurprising that most Britons want to find the cheapest supermarket offers and deals to lower the price of their weekly grocery shop. Some supermarkets are cheaper than others, but one has been crowned the most affordable of all: Aldi.
Aldi has been crowned the cheapest supermarket in the UK for the fifth month in a row.
Consumer group Which? conducted its monthly cheapest supermarket price comparison by looking at the cost of a basket of 48 items, including groceries and household essentials.
Aldi’s basket was the cheapest, costing just £75.79.
The same products cost a total of £16.93 more at Morrisons, and £10.42 more at Tesco.

Aldi’s affordable prices meant that its basket was a huge £25.38 cheaper than the most expensive supermarket, Waitrose, for an equivalent basket of items.
In second place was Lidl, with a basket of 48 items costing £77.68.
Next was Asda, with its basket costing £84.98. Meanwhile, Tesco was third with a basket costing £86.21.
Sainsbury’s was not far behind with a basket of 48 items costing £86.36.

Morrisons was next with its basket of items totalling to £92.72, while Ocado’s basket cost £93.99.
Waitrose was the most expensive basket, adding up to £101.17.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, commented on Which?’s results, saying: “As we get closer to Christmas, families across the nation will be looking for ways to cut costs.
“This can be a challenging period for many in the best of years, but never more so than right now, which is why we remain committed to supporting our customers in every way we can.

In October, Which? found that in September, shoppers coud save a huge £23.79 at Aldi compared to the most expensive supermarket, Waitrose, for an equivalent basket of items.
Aldi’s 48 items were cheaper added up to a total of £75.61, which is a tiny bit cheaper than October’s basket of items.
At the time, the same shopping cost a whopping £18.77 more at Morrisons and £11.76 more at Tesco.
The second cheapest supermarket in September was the same as in October – Aldi’s biggest rival, Lidl, with the same 48 items adding up to £77.45.
