According to new research from the travel experts at KAYAK, around 65 percent of Britons are finding it harder to afford a holiday this year.
However, over 80 percent of British holidaymakers are still planning to travel this year with nearly half saying they need a holiday to look forward to.
The majority of the 2,000 survey respondents said they would be happy to cut out non-essential purchases to fund a holiday.
Cutting out takeaways was the most popular way to save while pulling back on new clothing came in second place.
However, Britons could also find it easier to afford a holiday if they opt for an affordable destination.

Milan came out on top as this year’s affordable destination with return flights available for under £125 according to KAYAK.
Visitors won’t want to miss exploring the Duomo di Milano, the city’s incredible cathedral and its most impressive landmark.
A tourist ‘IVAN M’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “Beautiful city of course, we walked everyone. The people were super friendly and nice.”
Lake Como is also easily accessible from Milan with trains to the town of Como taking under 40 minutes.
TV presenter, Rachel Riley, said: “I’m really excited to get away this year, but with the cost of everything going up, my eldest being in school and Pasha’s work schedule, we’re going to be tied into going on holiday during the peak season.
“Anything to help save money and find the best deals for a family holiday is definitely part of my holiday planning.
“And there are plenty of ways to save for booking your holiday, but also cut back your spending for what you take on holiday, such as avoiding buying new clothes.
“My friends and I raid each other’s wardrobes to borrow clothes and shoes for ourselves and the kids, it saves money and it’s more sustainable.”
