Cheapest beach holiday destination in Europe is ‘lovely’
A “beautiful” holiday destination in Europe is the cheapest last-minute beach destination for summer.
The team at Which? Travel looked at holidays from Jet2holidays and TUI to find the cheapest options.
While Bilbao was crowned the cheapest destination for last-minute bookers, a beautiful hotspot in Turkey was named the cheapest beach hotspot.
Rory Boland, editor of Which? Travel, said: “Jetting off in the summer holidays this year could be very pricey, but we’ve found it’s not too late to bag a bargain coastal break this August, whether you’re in the mood to simply fly and flop or want a bit of city life thrown in too.”
Dalaman was named the cheapest beach holiday hotspot and was described as a “lovely” family destination.
A spokesperson for Which? Travel said: “Dalaman is the cheapest option for holidaymakers who just want to flop on a beach and chill by a pool.
“The average cost of a package holiday in this region was considerably less than elsewhere on Turkey’s sun-soaked Turquoise coast, and you can still find bed and breakfast, half-board and all-inclusive holidays available.
“There are plenty of water sports on offer to keep kids and adrenaline junkies entertained. Walking up shady Saklikent Gorge – beneath sheer rock faces – is also a fun way to cool off. Fethiye’s ancient Greek rock-hewn tombs are a must-see.”
A tourist who visited Sarsala Koyu, one of Dalaman’s best-rated beaches, said it was a “lovely” spot.
The tourist ‘franb418’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “Lovely beach, beautiful scenery, nice place to unwind.”
Dalaman is primarily a beach destination although tourists will have easy access to attractions in nearby Fethiye.
