Charlton face Wycombe looking to match longest winning run

In the last two games they have enjoyed two comfortable victories, starting with a 4-1 win over Morecambe, before beating Cambridge United 2-1, and are now 11th in the table.

Remarkably, a win on Saturday (March 25) would match their longest winning run in the league this season, which is just three.

They have managed that twice before, starting with a stretch between October 11-22 and then again between January 1-14, despite losing to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup between these dates.

This highlights a complete lack of consistency in their season, but fortunately they can look ahead to completing the season and enjoying a rebuild, potentially under new ownership, in the summer.

There are nine games left in the season for Charlton, starting with Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday. Last time out they drew 1-1 thanks to Jesurun Rak-Sakyi equalising just a minute after Anis Mehmeti’s opener.

Richard Chin, an academy graduate, will go into the game fresh from signing a new contract at Charlton, which sees him stay until the end of next season.

The 20-year-old midfielder received a glowing assessment from manager Dean Holden.

He said: “He’s a good, young player with a bright future ahead of him, I’m pleased we’ve got him for another year.

“I’m looking forward to watching him develop as there is plenty more to come from him.”
