Whenever Charlotte Tilbury launches a new product, there’s instant fanfare thanks to her icon status in the beauty world, and the fact that her products are just so damn great.

Now, her latest launch, fronted by Bella Hadid, is Airbrush Flawless Lip Blur, which promises to give a matte lip – without drying them out.

Before this product came about, Charlotte would mix powders into creams to create a nourishing lip formula that still appears matte – and doesn’t feather, crease or set into fine lines.

The launch (which also coincided with the beauty brand’s new app release) is a little retro, as its essentially a lip crème – a formula you don’t find much on the market anymore.

However, Charlotte was inspired by the 90s when creating it, which might explain the old school vibe.

There are two ways to wear it, depending on your tastes: wearing it blurred, by pressing the product onto the centre of the lips and blending it outwards for a soft focus look, or wearing it bold, by spreading the applicator all over the lips like a regular lipstick.

Here’s how we got on with it.

‘I tried two shades and found the formula to be slightly different between them.

Pillow Talk Blur is a delightful nude/blush hue that is subtle if you’re not keen on a bold lip, but want a little colour injection.

‘A really nice consistency and feel on the lip, but I found it faded quickly and transferred easily to my coffee mug. But I love how it looked like a matte lip but still felt super nourishing (if not finding difficulty staying on my lips).

Ruby Blur is super pigmented and smooth to apply, and doesn’t stick to any dry areas either.

‘Doesn’t feel as moisturising as the Pillow Talk but stays on and didn’t transfer as much to my mug. It looks super matte but doesn’t feel dry or crusty – big fan.’

‘My lips are often dry, but I like a matte lip, so marrying the two together is a winning combo for me.

‘Unlike Mel, I preferred the more neutral shade purely because I found the transfer with Flame Blur too much hassle.

‘As this is a crème formula and not a lipstick, it has more slip than usual (which is how it stays moisturising), and while an orange red is my vibe, it moved too much when eating and drinking for my liking.

‘There is a slight staining effect though which is good, so even when the shade did wear off, I still had pigment on my lips.

‘With Nude Blur however, I could just let it fade down or wear off without worrying about having makeup smears on my face, so it’s much more office-friendly.

‘I’d definitely come back to this on dry lip days – and I also like that given how creamy it is, it can double up as a blush on the cheeks.’

Kristina Beanland, Deputy Lifestyle Editor

‘I’m a bold lip girlie, so wasn’t blown away by the colour of Rose Blur in the tube, but once applied, I was pleasantly surprised by the richer, deeper shade.

‘I struggle with dry lips (albeit, usually in winter) so loved the moisturising texture of this product while still keeping that matte look.

‘However, these crèmes are… slippy. There’s now a perfect lipstick print on my coffee mug, and I was constantly worried I had lipstick on my teeth. After an hour or so, I found the application had smudged around the edges.

Honey Blur again wasn’t quite what I expected from the tube – perhaps because the products are so pigmented, they can be a little deceiving. Given the slightly lighter, nude colour, I felt I could be a little more slap dash with the application, so a good one if you’re in a hurry.

‘Overall, I’ll definitely be using this product – a great way to both hide and soothe dry lips, without piling on the gloss.’
