Charlotte and Louis wear matching £30 shoes – but George set the trend in 2018
Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, joined their older brother Prince George and their parents Princess Kate and Prince William to visit the Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford on Friday.
The Prince and Princess of Wales’s youngest two children made a surprising style match, which delighted royal fans.
Princess Charlotte wore her Trotters Children’s Wear navy Hampton canvas plum plimsolls, which cost just £30.
Their description says: “Our stylish ‘retro’ canvas kid’s shoes by Hampton Canvas are handmade in Europe and worn all over the world! Available in a fantastic range of colours, they are elasticated for ease and comfort.
“The name of our iconic Hampton Canvas Plum plimsoll takes inspiration from Plum Island, Massachusetts and was designed to evoke the feelings of summer holidays, sand dunes, seaside inns and seafood lunches.”
Charlotte’s younger brother Prince Louis also wore these £30 shoes for the family day out in Gloucestershire.
But these shoes have an interesting backstory – they originally belonged to Prince George, nine, who used to wear them in 2018 and 2019 when he was around Louis’s current age.
Therefore, it is likely that Louis is wearing George’s old shoes, as younger siblings often do.
This is not the first time that Louis wore these shoes – he first stepped out wearing them in 2021 for his family’s annual Christmas card.
Princess Charlotte, on the other hand, has been wearing them since 2018 just like her older brother George.
Another family member, King Charles, also owns a pair of these shoes in an adult size as he was photographed wearing them in 2022.
Charlotte and Louis were not the only pair to match their styles on Friday. George wore his £97 Papouelli “Arthur” brogue shoes in brown suede.
These shoes looked almost identical to the ones Prince William wore in the exact same material.
