Charles is ‘grateful’ for his closest royal friend, expert claims
King Charles and Princess Anne grew up together under the royal spotlight and share a unique connection and experience most of us could hardly imagine.
Body language expert Judi James spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about how Princess Anne is Charles’s close confidante in spite of any sibling rivalry.
And according to the body language guru, two recent historical events for the royal duo may have solidified their relationship more than ever.
Judi claimed: “Like many sibling relationships this one has veered between devoted affection to, as Anne was quoted as saying by biographer Nicholas Courtney, fighting ‘like cats and dogs’.
“Fights between siblings are often about hierarchy and in their case the stronger sibling was always going to be lower in status than her brother, meaning some battles would be a given, but even as children there were body language signals of deep affection which, following the death of their parents and Charles’s coronation, seems to have emerged as a close friendship that Charles in particular seems to be grateful for.”
According to Judi, Charles is probably very grateful for the unwavering support of his sister, even when she has her own differing opinions.
She claimed: “Over the past decade Charles has looked increasingly close to and relaxed with his sister and in turn she has stepped up as his wing-woman and supporter.
“There are still disagreements between them as Anne showed when she looked and sounded scathingly dismissive of his new ‘slimmed down’ royal Firm during an interview on Canadian TV, but Charles might appreciate a close family member who speaks her mind rather than one who stabs him in the back.”
Judi spoke to Express.co.uk about two events which convey the closeness of the royal siblings.
To pretty much everyone Charles is King, but in addition to being monarch Anne likely sees Charles first and foremost as her brother, meaning there is a lot of comfortability between them.
Judi referenced a photo of the pair of Royal Ascot in 2012 where Anne intently gazes at the now King.
The expert claimed: “In Anne, Charles has a friend who is able to break past royal protocol to get close in a way that few other people can.
“The proximity is important here and Anne combines it with some close-up face-gazing as she studies her brother’s expression, clearly enjoying and fuelling his beaming smile.
“In Anne, Charles has a female family member who not only shares his history and understands him deeply but who also ‘gets’ the experiences of royal life, much as his mother used to.
“Royal visits entail constant meetings with strangers so sitting enjoying a joke with his sister here must offer Charles an opportunity to relax and have fun.”
Three years before at The Braemar Highland Games in 2009, Charles, Anne and the late Queen Elizabeth II were snapped together watching the events with glee.
Judi commented: “In Anne Charles has a female family member who not only shares his history and understands him deeply but who also ‘gets’ the experiences of royal life, much as his mother used to.
“Royal visits entail constant meetings with strangers so sitting enjoying a joke with his sister here must offer Charles an opportunity to relax and have fun.”
Judi James spoke to Express.co.uk about another close royal friendship King Charles has. However, she claimed that this one could have been “dangerous”.
