Change your Facebook settings now, so you don’t accidentally reveal your crush
FACEBOOK users who have signed up for the Dating feature may want to double-check their settings.
Facebook Dating, which launched in 2019, can be a fun and efficient way to make a new connection with someone.
The tool is similar to other popular apps, like Tinder, in that it lets users swipe right and left on people they are attracted to.
Unlike Tinder, Facebook Dating automatically hides your profile from your friends unless you’re on their “Secret Crush” list.
It won’t automatically prevent friends of friends from seeing your profile, though.
And if this is something that bothers you, then changing your settings on the feature can help.
How can I hide friends of friends?
Facebook Dating actually gives you the option to tweak your privacy settings to hide friends of your friends as potential matches.
To do this, you will need to go into the tool’s Settings and then tap on General.
From there, tap on Privacy and then scroll down to “Suggest friends of friends” and toggle it off.
After you have done that, you should no longer receive friends of friends as suggestions.
What’s more, the only way someone can see that you have a crush on them is via “Secret Crushes.”
‘Secret Crushes’
This is a feature on Facebook Dating that allows you to select up to nine of your Facebook friends or Instagram followers that you’re interested in.
If you add a person to your list, and they add you to theirs, then you’ll be matched together.
However, should that person not use Facebook Dating – or doesn’t put you on their list – they won’t be notified that you’ve entered their name.
How to access Facebook Dating
If you’re interested in trying Facebook Dating, you can access the tool inside the main Facebook app.
First, open the Facebook app on your mobile device, then tap the three-line menu in the All Shortcuts section.
From there, look for Dating, hit on Get Started, and follow the instructions to set up your dating profile.
