Chalmers says Mayweather fight is bigger than Paul vs Fury but will face BOTH

AARON CHALMERS has offered to fight either Jake Paul or Tommy Fury – once he has taken care of business with Floyd Mayweather.

The Geordie Shore star welcomes Mayweather to a British ring for the first time in the American legend’s career on Saturday, at the O2 Arena.

It comes on the eve of Paul’s rescheduled grudge match with Fury, who twice pulled out in the past amid injury and US visa issues.

Chalmers will be waiting in the wings for either celebrity boxing star as he prepares to share the ring with boxing royalty.

He told SunSport: “The winner or the loser.

“I would like two big years and those two names after the Floyd fight are the ones I kind of thought were getting away from us.

“But now, because of the Floyd fight it puts us right back into the mix with all these big names.

“So yeah, Tommy or Jake, after the fight, the winner or the loser, I’d happily take.”

Chalmers, 35, argued his fight with all-time great Mayweather, 46 on Friday, is the bigger of the two but will watch Paul’s fight with Fury as an eager fan.

He said: “I’m going to have to say me, obviously.

“I’m not gonna say them two. Their fight is massive, but I think they’re both big fights in their own right.

“Floyd’s never fought in the UK, so I can imagine he’s got thousands and thousands of fans wanting to come and see him.

“Whereas Tommy and Jake, it’s been off, it’s been on, it’s been off, it’s been off, so people are looking and saying, ‘Will Tommy make it to the ring?’

“Who knows? But I am as excited for theirs as I am my own.”

Paul, 26, faces his first opponent with a recognised boxing record in Saudi Arabia, despite wins over ex-MMA champions.

But Fury, 23, carries a weight of expectation having been warned by his champion brother Tyson, 34, to stay in the Middle East and vacate their surname if he loses.

It leaves Chalmers – who was 5-2 in MMA and won his boxing debut last year – struggling to split the two.

He said: “This is a tough one; a tough one because on paper Jake’s fought better people but not boxers.

“Tommy’s fought journeymen, which is a weird one because journeymen are good at what they do but obviously Jake Paul has fought some high-level strikers, but in MMA.

“I really don’t know, Jake’s had the more spectacular knockouts but I wouldn’t like to say.

“I feel like for them two, a loss for one of them would be seriously damaging to their reputations because of all the s*** that has been spoken.

“I think more pressure is on Tommy than Jake.”
