Census Data Research Workstation at Fakir Mohan University – Times of India

Bhubaneswar: Census Data Research Workstation was started at the PG department of population studies, Fakir Mohan University Balasore, from Tuesday. This workstation will help the students, teachers, scholars and other organisations from Odisha to get census data for research works.
A memorandum of understanding was signed on Tuesday between the PG department of the university and the directorate of census operations, ministry of home affairs, in the presence of Fakir Mohan University vice-chancellor Santosh Kumar Tripathy and Uday Narayan Das, director of census operations, Odisha.
The university claimed that this type of workstation is the first of its kind in Odisha. It was the 23rd workstation in the country. “It’s a joint effort between our university and the directorate of census operations towards research and data analysis,” said the university vice-chancellor.
He said this collaborative initiative aims to provide a dedicated research space equipped with the necessary tools and resources for conducting census data analysis and research. Its inauguration marks a significant milestone in the field of population studies and data analysis in Odisha, he added.
After signing of the MoU, a meeting was conducted to discuss the modalities of the collaboration and the future activities to be undertaken at the newly established census workstation.
Official sources said the workstation will enable researchers and students to delve into census data, unravel population trends, and gain valuable insights into demographic patterns.
“This MoU signifies a significant step forward in the pursuit of knowledge and research in the field of population studies. It promises to open new avenues for research and contribute to evidence-based decision-making in various sectors, including social development, public policy, and urban planning,” said an official statement of the university.
