CBSE 10th Science Paper Analysis 2023: Students find Science question paper moderate, lengthy – Times of India
CBSE 10th Science Exam 2023 was conducted today, March 3 from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Students were given an additional 15 minutes of reading time to read the Science question paper. Class 10 Science paper holds great importance for the students aiming to pursue the Science stream in 10+2.
Exam Details
The CBSE 10th Science Paper carried a total of 80 marks. Candidates were given 3 hours to complete the question paper. The question paper was divided into 5 sections. Section A had 20 objective type questions carrying 1 mark each, Section B consisted of 6 Very Short questions carrying 2 marks each, Section C had 7 Short Answer type questions carrying 3 marks each, Section D had 3 Long Answer type questions carrying 05 marks each and Section E consisted of 3 source-based/case-based units of assessment of 4 marks each with sub-parts.
Section-wise Difficulty Level
Students have mixed reactions to today’s Science paper. As per the initial reactions, the Science paper was moderate to easy. Although the questions were mostly NCERT based, but some students found the paper to be lengthy. Out of the 5 sections, Section-D was more challenging than the other sections. While Section-A was the easiest of all.
“The paper was average in difficulty level. However, if you haven’t read the NCERT book thoroughly, you might find the paper a little tricky,” says Pulkit, a Class 10 student from Manava Bharati India International School.
Samiksha Sharma, Class 10 student, CCA School, Gurgaon says, “The Science paper was imbalanced. There were no diagrams from Biology. Whereas, the Chemistry part was comparatively tricky.”
The CBSE Science Class 10 exam paper according to Tanmay Raheja, a 10th Class student of Vidya Bharati School, Ghaziabad, was an average paper. The questions ranged from simple to a little tricky but were mostly direct and simple.
Reeya and Saumya, other students of the same school reviewed the paper as easy and high scoring with direct questions.
However, Ms. Monica Khanna, TGT Science reviewed it as a paper that required a thorough understanding of the concept but all the same commented that the questions were almost like that of in previous years and is expecting good marks.
Overall students found the Chemistry portion challenging and lengthy. “Paper was lengthy and the marks distribution was not appropriate. Chemistry was tricker as compared to Biology. There were a lot of ray diagrams in the Physics portion,” Avyaansh Gour, Class X, CCA SCHOOL.
The next exam for Class 10 Board Exam 2023 will be Home Science (064) and Multi Skill Foundation Course (416) which is scheduled for March 06, 2023.
