Casey Anthony is set to appear in a documentary for the first time since being acquitted of the murder of her daughter Caylee Anthony.

In 2008, the Florida native reported Caylee missing to the police and claimed the two-year-old was last seen with a babysitter.

Caylee’s body was found in December that year and Casey was charged with first-degree murder among other counts.

However, a jury found Casey not guilty of her daughter’s murder in 2011 much to the uproar of America following a highly-publicised and televised trial.

Since then, Casey has kept a low profile but she’s now returning to the spotlight appearing in a new documentary, Casey Anthony: Where The Truth Lies, which will air on Peacock in the US.

A teaser was released on Tuesday and features the 36-year-old playing with her hair while sitting down for an interview.

A message also flashes on stating: ‘In 2011, Casey Anthony was accused of murdering her daughter. She was found not guilty.’

Casey then looks straight at the camera as the reporter asks: ‘Why talk to me now when you’re not getting creative control?’

However, the clip cuts to black before Casey can give her answer.

The documentary will no doubt spark a strong reaction with many still wanting to seek justice for Caylee’s unsolved death.

Although Casey was found not guilty, she was convicted of providing false evidence to police.

Her story about her daughter going missing with a babysitter called Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez was one of the things that was found not to be true during the trial.

She was jailed for four years but was released a week and a half after the verdict because she had already served time.

Prosecutors had originally sought the death penalty for Casey, arguing she had suffocated Caylee, but the defence had a different version of what had happened.

They argued Anthony and the girl’s father George Anthony had panicked after discovering their daughter had drowned in their pool. The couple then apparently decided to bury her in the backyard in order to cover up her death.

Casey Anthony: Where The Truth Lies, a three-part docuseries, is set to air on Peacock on November 29.
