Carson Wentz injury update: Colts QB out indefinitely with foot injury, per report

New team, new number, same injury issues for Carson Wentz.

The Colts have already been dealt a tough blow at quarterback, with new signal-caller Wentz injuring his foot during Thursday’s Indianapolis training camp practice.

Early on, it doesn’t sound too great: Wentz was held out of practice on Friday, with second-year quarterback Jacob Eason taking the starter snaps instead. NFL Network reports that the current hope is that the injury isn’t too bad, but ESPN reports that there’s no current timetable for a return.

Wentz, the former Eagle, has more than a bit of an injury history, and it looks like that was one thing he couldn’t leave behind in Philadelphia as he headed to the heartland.

Here’s the latest on Wentz’s ailing foot:

Carson Wentz injury update

Colts quarterback Carson Wentz will be out “indefinitely” as he undergoes tests on his injured foot, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Wentz sustained the injury at the end of Thursday’s practice. Sophomore passer Jacob Eason took starter reps during Friday’s practice.

There’s no timeline for Wentz’s return. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport report that the current hope is that the injury isn’t too serious, but the team is waiting on a firm diagnosis in order to proceed.

Wentz was traded to the Colts in February, reuniting him with former Philly QB coach, now Indy head coach, Frank Reich. The Colts hope Wentz, a former No. 2 overall pick, can turn around his career after a few down years in Philly.
