Made in 1972, it found its way onto our screens in the 1980s as the vehicle of choice for David Jason’s Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses.

It is one of only six used across the program’s decade-long run from 1981 to 1991.

While the distinctive motor has chalked up 97,000 miles, it has been fitted with new tyres and undergone a thorough overhaul of the brakes.

Warwickshire-based Classic Car Auctions will be selling the vehicle which will go under the hammer on June 17.

The listing reads: “Believed to be one of the original six Reliants from the popular 1980s sitcom Only Fools and Horses.

“Owned by John Mansfield of the BBC who also owned the example successfully sold by Silverstone Auctions in 2017.

“The subject of some recent recommissioning works in readiness for the auction.

“New tyres fitted, brakes overhauled and the fuel system checked through.

“Complete with the roof rack, market suitcase, fluffy dice and even an inflatable doll in the back as seen in Series 6, Episode 2 ‘Danger UXD’.”

It comes after news that Sir Bruce Forsyth’s incredible vintage 1971 Rolls-Royce will go under the hammer later this month.

Elsewhere, a classic Ferrari used in a famous movie was sold at auction for big money, but there’s a reason it didn’t sell for more.
