Canadian truckers crossing U.S. border now exempt from new COVID-19 rules, feds say – National | Globalnews.ca
The federal government is backing down from mandating COVID-19 vaccinations for cross-border Canadian truckers just days before it was set to take effect.
A spokesperson for the Canadian Border Services Agency told Global News Wednesday that unvaccinated Canadian truckers crossing from the United States will remain exempt from testing and quarantine requirements after arriving in the country.
Those requirements will, however, still apply to unvaccinated or partially vaccinated foreign nationals, including American truck drivers as of Jan. 15, spokesperson Rebecca Purdy said.
Those truckers will be forced to turn back to the U.S. until they are fully inoculated.
