Camilla’s jewellery will honour Charles’ royal lineage at Coronation

Preparations for King Charles’s Coronation are well underway, and royal fans are waiting to see how the historic event plays out on the day. From previous royal celebrations, it is known that the Royal Family’s regal jewellery plays a major role in the splendour and excitement.

It’s difficult to forecast which traditional pieces and jewellery designs will appear on a new royal, given that it has been 70 years since the last Coronation.

By working with tiara and royal collection expert Robin Haydock of Greys Antique Centre in Mayfair, Pandora UK has delved into the monarchy’s eagerly anticipated Coronation style.

Mr Haydock shared how Camilla, the Queen Consort, will pay homage to Charles’s royal lineage through jewels that could date back as far as the Georgian period.

He said: “I would anticipate that Camilla will wear significant but very grand statement pieces, perhaps related to Charles’s royal lineage.

“The pieces could date as far back as the Georgian period which would be a nice touch and an appropriate homage to the previous generations.”

Mr Haydock is confident that the Queen Consort might wear pieces from the legendary Cullinan diamond in addition to Camilla’s tribute statement pieces.

He claimed: “We already know Camilla inherited most of the Queen Mother’s jewels, including the Greville Tiara.

“Although, I feel sure that Camilla will appear wearing various pieces from the Cullinan diamond, which is also famously referred to as Granny’s Chips.”

Mr Haydock describes how Kate Middleton could celebrate past female rulers at the Coronation.

The jewellery expert has predicted she might be seen wearing The Girls of Great Britain Tiara, which was famously worn by Her Majesty in the image of her on coins and banknotes.

Mr Haydock opined: “At the coronation, Kate may sport Queen Elizabeth’s favourite – The Girls of Great Britain Tiara.

“Other pieces we might expect Kate to display include The Queen’s pearl drop earrings and three-row festoon necklace.”

The Princess of Wales has worn the late Queen’s pearl drop earrings before.

In fact, she was most famously photographed wearing them in September last year when attending memorial services for the late Queen at Sandringham.

Even though the Coronation took place in the modern era, fans can still expect to see customary jewels from the Regency period.

Mr Haydock clarified: “Jewels denoting the insignia of the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland will be worn at the coronation.

“For instance, jewels such as George IV’s Diamond & Pearl circlet/diadem/coronet.

“Representations from all the nations of the Commonwealth will also be a must to mark the occasion.

“Coronation dresses are also usually heavily embroidered with copious amounts of gilded silver too, often representing symbols from all the nations of the Commonwealth.

“I would anticipate that this tradition will be maintained.”
