Cameron Smith’s whack for Storm party trio

Melbourne great Cameron Smith has hit out at the trio of players engulfed in the Storm’s video controversy.

Brandon Smith, Cameron Munster and Chris Lewis are being investigated by the NRL’s Integrity Unit after videos emerged of the trio partying in a room where a white substance was present on a table.

The incident occurred just days after the Storm were knocked out of the finals series by the Panthers.

Smith, a legendary Storm skipper and icon of the club, said the decisions made by the trio were “mind-boggling” given they well aware of the risks.

“These boys know the rules. It’s illegal in society and within the game of rugby league,” Smith told SEN radio.

“I’d like to think they’re smarter than the way they’ve acted.

“To allow outsiders into a room and they’ve got phones out filming … it’s mind-boggling to see these guys make these poor choices.”

The videos that surfaced also occurred only 24 hours after Warriors rising star Reece Walsh admitted to being caught with cocaine by Queensland Police over the weekend.

Smith’s blast comes the day after Melbourne CEO Justin Rodski issued a public letter to the club’s members and fans regarding the matter.

“Having spent a lot of time with the players involved over the last few days, I know they are extremely remorseful and embarrassed,” he wrote.

“They know they have let their club down – their teammates, their coaches, our staff, partners and you – our members and fans – who look up to them and support them.”
