Camden Town: So much more than just the market

Visiting Camden Market for the first time is a rite of passage for teenagers, but Camden Town’s appeal transcends all age groups.

Locals can go for leisurely strolls along the canal, walk into the West End, drink pints in unpretentious pubs and embrace the club and music scene that attracts night owls from far and wide. It’s so central you can walk to the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras International and arrive in Paris in just over a couple of hours, or jump on the Northern line or Overground for easy access to all corners of the capital.

The neighbourhood is renowned for its elegant Georgian and early Victorian townhouses and there are also architect-embellished mews, warehouse and purpose-built flats, and social housing estates, plus some major new schemes.

‘Camden Town is set to become one of London’s next significant areas of regeneration, with a pipeline of new developments in the area,’ says Richard Pine-Coffin, director within JLL’s residential development team.

‘It has become increasingly attractive to young professional owner-occupiers and the rental market and has huge growth potential.’

Flats start from about £400,000 and a small house will set you back at least £1million.
