Cage The Elephant singer Matthew Shultz takes plea deal in NYC gun case

The frontman for Grammy-winning group Cage The Elephant took a no-jail plea deal Friday, copping to weapons possession charges for having two loaded guns in a Manhattan hotel.

“Tell Me I’m Pretty” singer Matthew Shultz, 39, was arrested in January after cops found two loaded guns in his Bowery Hotel room.

“Are you pleading guilty because you are, in fact, guilty?” Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Cori Weston asked Shutlz Friday

“Yes, Your Honor,” Shultz replied.

The rocker pleaded guilty to three charges of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal possession of a weapon.

Under the terms of the plea deal, Shultz must “stay out of trouble for one year” and show up for all his court dates, the judge explained.

If Shultz does, he can withdraw his guilty plea on the two felony counts and be sentenced to one-year conditional release for a misdemeanor charge, the judge added.

But if Shultz breaks the deal, he’s face up to seven years behind bars, the judge warned.

Shultz was caught after a hotel worker saw him pull a gun from his pocket in an open part of the hotel.

Prosecutors claimed he appeared to be intoxicated at the time.

Cops found the two guns in a bag in his room and 11 Polaroid pictures of the weapons — including one with a hand holding and pointing the firearm, prosecutors said.

Shultz lawyer Sanford Talkin told a judge in January the guns were legally purchased and registered, though not in New York.

His lawyer didn’t immediately return a request for comment.
