Bulk and block deals worth over Rs 8,400 crore this week. Piramal Enterprises, Airtel top charts

The week gone by was marked by prominent block and bulk deals worth Rs 8,430 crore in two and half dozen companies. A lion share of this amount accounts from the block deals executed on the screen, according to a Nuvama report.

The block and bulk deals involved both buying and selling actions in companies including Piramal Enterprises, Bharti Airtel, Eric Lifesciences and Bajaj Finance, among others.

Among the prominent bulk / block deals and insider trades for the week, Piramal Enterprises witnessed two deals where New World Fund and Small Cap World Fund sold shares worth Rs 941 crore, each.

Investors Shah Rakesh and Satpal Khattar sold shares worth Rs 697 crore and Rs 510 crore, respectively in Eric Lifesciences and IIFL Finance. Meanwhile, HDFC Mutual Fund and BNP Paribas Arbitrage bought shares worth Rs 94 crore and Rs 51 crore in Eric Lifesciences and CEAT.

The total value of the deal was at Rs 1,242 crore. Other companies to witness block and bulk deals included TCNS Clothing, Mind Corp, HMA Agro Industries, Sunteck Realty, Kamdhenu Ventures and Abans Holdings.

The brokerage firm also reported significant block deals that happened on the screen this week between the usual trading hours (9:15 am to 3:30 pm). At least 20 prominent deals were reported, Nuvama said. The top three contenders were Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance and Max Healthcare. The total value of the deals executed on the screen stood at Rs 7,188 crore.

The brokerage firm highlighted preference of Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) towards the Indian equities over their other emerging market peers. The FII inflow in India over the last 10 trading sessions stood at US $5,126 million and $12,052 million on the year-to-date basis.
