BTS are officially the most awarded group in Billboard Music Awards history after sweeping the board this year.

The K-pop heroes won big at the awards ceremony, which took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, and saw them break a record previously held by legendary R&B girl group Destiny’s Child.

BTS, consisting of Jin, RM, V, Suga, Jungkook, Jimin and J-Hope, won top duo/group, top song sales artist and top selling song for their 2021 banger Butter.

This brings their total number of BBMAs to 12, breaking a 17-year reign by Beyonce, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland, who had 11 awards with Destiny’s Child.

Their new set of gongs means BTS are now tied with One Direction for the most wins in the top duo/group category, having already won in 2021 and 2019, while 1D – who split in 2015 – scooped the accolade in 2013, 2015 and 2016.

BTS typically fare well at the BBMAs having won an award every year since 2017.

He was also named top Christian and gospel artist, while the track Hurricane from Donda was named top Christian and gospel song, giving him a total of six prizes.

Doja Cat had a great night walked away with three prizes for top R&B artist, top viral

song for Kiss Me More featuring SZA, and top R&B female artist.

Blinding Lights singer The Weeknd was the most-nominated going into the ceremony with 17 nods but only walked away with a single prize for top R&B male artist.

The night also saw a host of performances with Travis Scott making his comeback after the Astroworld tragedy, and Machine Gun Kelly hinting he’s already married fiancee Megan Fox.
