Brixton shooting witnesses say ‘screaming’ victim would have died if not found

Two witnesses to last night’s shooting in Brockwell Park, Brixton, have said how they found the victim ‘screaming’ for help after being shot in the leg. They say police told them if they hadn’t found the 34-year-old victim he may well have died from his injuries, and not have been found until morning.

Speaking to MyLondon local residents Shyanne Robinson, 28, and Shannon Wallace, 27, explained how their flat sits just 100 metres from the park. Detailing what they saw and heard last night Shannon said: “At 2am we heard three or four loud bangs. Bang bang bang bang.

“We joked that it was a gunshot but kinda assumed it was fireworks. Then we heard a muffled shouting sound, which we thought was a fox. Eventually after about 10 minutes I opened the window and we heard a man screaming HELP.

“I said what’s happened and he said I’ve been shot. I asked him where and he said in my leg. We couldn’t see him at all but he was screaming so loud. Help help help. We phoned an ambulance and kept speaking to him the whole time telling him to keep shouting help. We asked if there was much blood but he said he couldn’t tell because it was pitch black.

“The ambulance and police arrived in about 10 minutes and he was shouting help so they could find him. Police told us we were the only people who called so if we didn’t call he would have died and probably been found by a dog walker in the morning.”
