Brittany Matthews’ fiery response to Jackson Mahomes haters following assault accusations
Brittany Matthews has her brother-in-law’s back.
The KC Current co-owner — who celebrated one year of marriage with Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes last month — defended the QB’s younger brother, Jackson Mahomes, during an Instagram Q&A on Sunday.
“How do you feel about the comments about your BIL?” someone asked the 27-year-old Matthews about Jackson, a popular fixture on TikTok with over one million followers.
“They are ignorant,” she wrote in her response. “He is a human just trying to live his life and find his way and until you walk a day in his shoes (which no one ever will) you have no right to say s–t about him ????.
“So it’s best to just shut up.”
The fan did not go into details about specific comments concerning the 22-year-old Jackson — who was accused of assault by a restaurant owner and a waiter in a report by The Kansas City Star in March 2023.
The outlet reported in March that Jackson was accused of shoving a teenage waiter and forcibly kissing restaurant owner Aspen Vaughn on February 25.
“He forcibly kissed me out of nowhere,” Vaughn told the outlet. “And I’m telling him, pushing him off saying ‘what are you doing?’ and then he proceeded to do it two more times where the last time I was pushing him off and I can see on the cameras that somebody was outside the office door and I was yelling for them to come help because he’s big and massive.”
Brandan Davies, an attorney for Jackson, said his client “has nothing wrong.”
“Our investigation has revealed substantial evidence refuting the claims of Jackson’s accuser, including the statements of several witnesses,” Davies said.
“We have reached out to law enforcement to provide the fruit of our investigation so that they may have a complete picture of the matter.”
Jackson has not yet addressed the matter publicly.
The social media influencer appeared to take a social media hiatus after he attended the Super Bowl with Matthews and their family in Glendale, Az. — where Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 38-35 win over the Eagles on Feb. 12, 2023.
On Sunday, Jackson posted a TikTok video that showed him mouthing the lyrics to Drake’s song, “Fair Trade”:
“I’ve been losing friends and finding peace, but honestly that sounds like a fair trade to me.”
Jackson previously was linked to a number of other controversies during which he’s attracted attention for his TikTok videos, dancing on the sidelines and engaging in altercations with fans.
In October 2021, he sparked outrage when he filmed a TikTok video dancing on a logo where the then-Washington Football Team honored the late Sean Taylor on the field at FedExField.
Gracie Hunt — the daughter of Chiefs owner Clark Hunt — also defended Jackson ahead of Super Bowl 2023, when she was asked whether there is a misconception about him following criticism over his social media posts.
