Britney Spears criticised for ‘body-shaming’ Christina Aguilera’s dancers
Britney Spears has faced criticism for her latest post on Instagram, in which fans believed she body-shamed Christina Aguilera’s dancers.
The singer, 40, took to Instagram to share a quote which read: ‘I found there was only one way to look thin: hang out with fat people’.
She added in her caption: ‘I wish I could have chosen the nannies for my children… my dancers… I mean if I had Christina Aguilera’s dancers I would have looked extremely small… I mean why not talk about it??
‘It’s hard sometimes now I see how much of my womanhood was stripped away at that time and every person sat back and didn’t say a thing!!! Anyways… I will be here talking bout things people NEVER talked about.’
She came under fire in the comments with fans writing: ‘Thiiiis issss not cool .. yikes’ and ‘Oh honey, delete this while you have time.’
Others added: ‘Uhhhh brit this was not it,’ ‘Hold up now baby,’ ‘This is rude. I’m disappointed, Britney’ and ‘This one is a no.’
While fans have been loving seeing Britney express herself more freely on social media since her conservatorship ended, they were not shy in pulling her up for the controversial post.
Others wrote: ‘Body shaming others is not the move’ and ‘Oof. Love Britt- but this was in bad taste. Body shaming to make yourself feel better is not where it’s at.’
Another added: ‘No need to put another woman down to feel better about yourself. Focus on your healing.’
The Toxic star has also publicly shared messages to her sons, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, after their father, Kevin Federline, leaked videos of her telling the boys off.
The trio had also spoken out in an interview explaining why her sons hadn’t seen her in months, with Britney later saying she doesn’t want to see them unless they start ‘valuing’ her.
