THE best and worst service stations in Britain have been revealed – is your local on the list?
Motorway services in Britain were scrutinised and ranked by members of the public in a recent survey.
Transport Focus spoke to over 31,000 visitors across 119 services about the food, toilets, staff, electrical vehicle charging points and whether it had an impact on their mood.
And one services only scored an 80 per cent satisfaction rate with customers.
Hartshead Moor East, Bradford, on the M62, ranked 119th in the survey labelling it the worst in the country.
The service station is operated by Welcome Break – who had four out of five stations in the bottom ranking and none in the best five.
Welcome Break said: “We are very disappointed with the results from our site at Hartshead Moor East.
“We have received the detailed comments from Transport Focus and we will be working closely with our teams to address the feedback from the report as well as prioritising the site for future investment.”
In contrast, the best services in the country was Rugby on the M6.
Th services, which is run by Moto, is the newest station on the motorway network – and it shows.
The toilets were rated an overall 99 per cent and drivers admitted they would recommend it to someone who was travelling on that route.
Anthony Smith, chief executive of Transport Focus, said: “As many people gear up for a half term getaway, motorway services provide a great place to stop and take a break.
“Many of us, when we think services, think about stopping for a toilet break – it’s reassuring to see that these are consistently highly rated.
“Our survey shows motorway service operators deliver good overall customer experience and facilities, but visitors don’t always feel they get value for money.
“Services continue to do a good job of their most important safety function – allowing drivers to rest and relax before getting back on the road.”
Findings also revealed HGV drivers were the least satisfied across the services.
